Well the start actually came several years before 2003 when we decided to start research in the possibilities of building and living in a log house. I think we started talking about it in 2001 or so. We started researching internet sites and Calling and visiting Log Home Biulders and some local log home models and prefab log home sites in the New York State and the New England areas. We were looking at model log homes in the area and finding out what our options would be to get into one of these kit log homes. With lots of meetings and plenty of brochures to look at and ponder over, we were not happy with the Log kits we were shown or looked at. The next step was to try to find a log home we could afford and we would be happy with. You see the construction and the execution of the homes we had seen just looked to be of poor quality and craftsmanship. We were not impressed with the quality or pricing for the homes. We did more searching, and found the LHBA (Log Home Builders Association of North America) site. They offered a 22 hr. Seminar/Class on biulding a log house from scratch.
